When you arise in the morning,
think of what a precious privilege it is
to be alive — to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.
I once cared for a young man who had sustained severe brain-damage which had left him blind, non-verbal and dependent for all his needs. Sometimes he would wake up in the morning laughing and smiling. In over 60 years I've never managed that.
